Unlike the older DT Swiss ratchet rear hubs, the new EXP rear hub has a 15267 bearing that is pressed inside the lockring (on EXP OS this bearing is a larger 17287). Because the lockring is small and has fine features, removing this bearing can be difficult.
This tool can be used to remove the old bearing easily and safely. The same tool can then be used to install the new bearing.
How To Use
This tool is easy to use.
Two 'drifts' are provided with the tool. The smaller one is used to remove the old bearing and the larger one is used to install the new bearing.
Removal
To remove the old bearing, place the EXP lockring in the cup with the serrated face of the lockring facing out. Then place the smaller drift on top of the bearing and install the nut and bolt. The small drift should fit easily through the hole in the lockring. Tightening the nut and bolt will draw the bearing into the cup.
Installation
To install the new bearing, place the EXP lockring in the cup with the serrated face of the lockring facing inwards to the cup. Place the bearing on top of the lockring. Place the larger drift on top of the bearing. The drift should match the inside and outside diameters of the bearing closely. Install the nut and bolt. Tightening the nut and bolt will press the bearing into the lockring. Stop as soon as the resistance increases - there's no need to 'snug' a bearing home.
